By Politico staff writer

In a bid to give hope and confidence to the disabled children in Sierra Leone, the disability Empowerment Movement with support from their US donor partner Aspire, has supported disabled children in Kambia, Lunsar and Portloko with crutches and wheel chairs to aid their movement.

Speaking at the event, the CEO and Founder, Eleanor Massah Abdulai, who is said to at age 10 had an amputation due to the 11 –year civil war in Sierra Leone, said she is passionate about making sure that children living with disabilities, orphans and street children in the provinces live a normal life as any other children, irrespective of their status.

She said her organization chose to work in the ‘’hard to reach ‘’regions across the country to support  less privileged and neglected disabled children , describing   it as a great challenge to take care of disabled and less privileged children and offers  them  with educational opportunities to improve the lives .

She called on other benevolent individuals and institutions to support the organization.

The Disability Empowerment Movement Sierra Leone (DEMSL) was formed to fight injustice towards less privileged kids and people living with disabilities in Sierra Leone, with an aim to improve the lives of the disabled, orphans, and street children through education, training, employment and enterprise creation.
