Briton found dead in Sierra Leone hotel

Police have confirmed the death of a British national whose body was found in a hotel room at Aberdeen, Freetown.

A statement from the Police said Alexander Wings was found dead on Sunday 24th July 2022 at Hotel Bamoi.

The Police said they received intelligence from the Finance Manager of the Integrated Service Solution Sierra Leone Limited, Bintu Naomi Olu-Jones who also confirmed to have been informed of the incident by Monotosh Deb, an American Citizen working for TSVIO vessel resident.  Deb was also staying at the hotel in another room.

The statement says it was Deb who alerted Olu-Jones that 42-year- old Wings who was working for ALATAS UK Service Department in Sierra Leone has been found dead in his hotel room.

The Police said upon receiving the information they dispatched a team of officers headed by Inspector Hassan Dumbuya to the scene and took photos.

The Head of Police Media and Public Relations, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Brima Kamara told Politico that the matter has been referred to the CID Headquarters. Kamara said he could not discuss much on the matter which is of a very sensitive nature but assured that Police investigations have begun. The body of Wing has since been taken to the Connaught Hospital Morgue for autopsy.
