Bo Rangers, Mogbwemo crowned league champions

For the third consecutive season, Bo Rangers have been crowned Champions of the Sierra Leone male premier League.  Mogbwemo Queens have also lifted the Women’s premier league champions for the second time running.

Bo Rangers are said to be the first provincial team to win the league three times in a row. The other Freetown teams to have won the league three times are East End Lions in the early 1990s and Ports Authority. 

Rangers top the group with 70 points with 3 games more to go having played 31 games, won 21, drew 7, lost 3. They have 49 goals in favor, 16 against with a goal difference of 33.

The race to clinch the runners up position is intense as this year’s debutant Bhantal FC have 55 points after playing 30 matches followed by FC Kallon with 51 with the same games played.

However, the relegation battle still lies between Kahunla Rangers who sit at the bottom of the table with 22 points after playing 30 games followed by Kholifa Stars in 17th position with 24 points.  Real Republican are in 16th position with 28 points having played the same number of 30 games.

For the Women’s premier League, Mogbwemo emerged champions with 61 points having played 21 games, won 20, drew 1, with no loss, accounting for 85 goals in favor, 9 against – a positive goal difference of 76 with a game more to go. The Champions are followed by FC Kallon female with 55 points having played the same amount of 21 games, won 18, drew 1, lost 2, scoring 82 goals in favor, conceding 16 against with a goal difference of  plus 66.

The Head of Media and Marketing of the Women’s premier league, Hawa Dauda confirmed to Politico that this year’s league will see two teams relegated from the top tier.

She said as shown in the league table, Albitaya Queens who are set to play their final match against the league Champion Mogbwemo lies at the foot of the table with No point, No win from 21 games and lose 21 games, scores 7 goals in favor, conceded 77 goals with a goal difference of -70.

The Women’s premier League Head of Media and Marketing also confirmed that the Correctional Service female team have also relegated with 15 points having played 21 games with one more game to go after winning 4 games, drew 3, lose 14, scoring 13 goals in favor, 40 goals against with goal differences of -28.
