The Southern City of Bo will be teeming with football fans this weekend as two of Sierra Leone’s most popular football clubs Bo Rangers, and East End Lions, face their respective opponents in this year’s Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) club competitions.
Well-resourced Champions -Bo Rangers will play host to FC San Pedro from Ivory Coast in the preliminary round of the CAF champions league at the club’s exquisite Southern Arena, on Saturday 17th August.
Rangers who have now won the Sierra Leone Premier League three times in a row, will be hoping to progress into the group stage of the continent’s foremost club competition.
Expectations are high and Rangers Chairman, Babadi Kamara will be in the Executive Suite at the Southern Arena, watching a side that he has singlehandedly transformed into a prestigious and competitive entity.
Victory is what the home side is expected to achieve and definitely all eyes will be on lethal goal machine, Musa ‘Tombo’ Noah who on his day, will be too hot to handle for any defence. Coach John Keister is confident that his boys will come out on top in the end.
Not much is known about Rangers’ opponents San Pedro who by virtue of coming from Ivory Coast- a country with a reputation as a football powerhouse, can be a formidable opposition.
Rangers must win and by a reasonable margin to put them in a better stead for the return league in the Ivorian port city.
Lions will the following day Sunday 18th August take on ASC Jaraaf also at the Southern Arena in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary stage.
Lions have got very good players and their large and boisterous following will be another armour against Jaraaf from Senegal.Quite a weekend indeed of big time football and we anticipate a busy Bo/Kenema Highway.
