The National Commission for Social Action (NACSA) is set to commence another set of payments to beneficiaries of the COVID-19 Social Safety Nets (SSN) programme better known as “Ep Fet Po”.
This was disclosed in a statement put out by the commission on the 27th October, 2022.
The first phase of the next payment is said to commence on Saturday 29th October, 2022 targeting Bombali, Bonthe, Falaba, Kambia, Karene, Kono, Moyamba and Port Loko.
It stated that each household will receive a first payment of NLE 1,309 (one thousand three hundred and nine New Leones). It further said that, they will equally pay certain households who were left out due to data error.
Persons with Disabilities (PWD) were informed they are liable to select an alternate individual of their choice, noting that no family relationship is allowed as long as the person is not a beneficiary. It cautioned that, the person selected should not be nominated again in respect of the same capacity.
The alternates were urged to present their enrolment certificate or the project ID card during the payment. It made it clear that the alternate should not necessarily be a person challenged.
Payment will be done by Rokel Commercial Bank with oversight by community Monitors from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and NACSA district staff, noting that the payment will support beneficiaries’ investment in health, education and productive business.
NACSA says together with other stakeholders, they had targeted, enrolled and paid the first set of 35,000 (thirty five thousand) beneficiary households under the SSN project nationwide. The second set of also 35,000 (thirty thousand) households got paid in April, 2022.
The commission cautions everyone not to offer any money to anyone after receiving the payment. The social safety nets payment is to help alleviate the impact of the recent COVID 19 pandemic on livelihoods.
