Magistrate Mark Ngegba has sent two accused visa fraudsters, 23-year-old first accused, Manso Lamin Koroma of 19 Tengbeh town and a 31-year-old second accused man, Sullaiman Sesay commonly known as “Muffy” of Main Motor Road Wilberforce, Freetown on remand for allegedly obtaining money by fraudulent means from different people with the promise of facilitating their travel to Canada.
A case file read out to the accused men at the Pademba road Magistrate Court No.1 on Tuesday 18th April 2023, indicated that between 1st August last year and 4th January 2023, they conspired with other unknown people to defraud Sahr Gbondo, Isaac Momoh and Mariama Mansaray.
The first accused allegedly defrauded Gbondo by collecting NLE 43,000 (forty-three thousand New Leones) from him with the promise of facilitating his sisters, Finda Momoh and Hawa Momoh’s travel to Canada.
The first accused also fraudulently collected NLE 20,000 (Twenty thousand New Leones) from Mariama Mansaray with the promise of facilitating her travel to Canada.
The second accused Sesay was said to have on the same date fraudulently collected NLE 43,000 (Forty Three Thousand New Leones) from Gbondo to help him travel to Canada.
The second accused man was also said to have on the same date at Tengbeh town in Freetown fraudulently collected an amount of NLE 40,000 (Forty Thousand New Leones) from Isaac Momoh with the promise of facilitating his travel to Canada, which happens to be false as well.
The case was adjourned to the 23rd April 2023.
