Plans to establish export cities in Sierra Leone took a giant leap recently when the brains behind the idea received prefabricated building materials.

The materials were handed over to Abdul Kadiru Kaikai, CEO of the ABCD Export City Project, in Instanbul, Turkey, on 27th October.

According to a statement issued by his communications handlers, the prefab materials will be used for the construction of facilities in its four project sites across the country.

The ABCD Export City Project entails the construction of four cities with standard facilities across Sierra Leone. Officials said each operational district will have 5,000 employees.

Mr Kaikai, a Sierra Leonean, is the company’s representative for Sierra Leone and Liberia. He received the consignment of prefab materials in the company of Ibrahim Abass Kanneh Esq, Legal Representative for Aspire SL, a subsidiary of Aspire US, which is working on the project in a joint endeavor with ABCD Export City.

The statement described the development as a major landmark towards the commencement of the operations of the ABCD Export City Project in the country, noting that it will create jobs for over twenty-three thousand Sierra Leonean youths.

CEO KaiKai said in the statement that the project is part of President Julius Maada Bio’s vision to transform the country’s economy.

Aspire-SL is striving to create communities with vital opportunities in education, entrepreneurship, employment, and the means and ability to live in dignity, irrespective of social, cultural, or political differences. It also seeks to pave the way for lasting peace, health, security, and socio-economic development in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and its blueprint to addressing global challenges.

In addition, Aspire SL says its goal is to help ease unemployment, particularly among young people, with the goal of reducing the pressure on the government.
