The prosecution alleged that the accused persons on Friday 1st July 2022 at Wongor Mining International Cooperation SL Limited at Kumoroh village, Nimikoro chiefdom, Kono district, conspired with unknown others in possession of cutlass and scissors, robbed a Chinese National, Ruiping Chen, of a black bag containing 4,498.5 grams of gold substance valued at five hundred and twenty-two thousand five hundred Leones (NLe 522,500) and used “personal violence” on the complainant.

It was further alleged that they assaulted the complainant in a manner thereby occasioning actual bodily harm, while the accused, Daniel Samura, carried offensive weapons such as cutlass and scissors without lawful authority or reasonable explanation.

During the hearing on Monday 29th August 2022, the prosecution presented its fourth witness, Detective Issa Kamara, attached to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters in Freetown.

He identified himself as a clerk responsible for the registration and safekeeping of all exhibits relating to matters for investigation.

He recalled on the 4th  July 2022 when the investigator of the said matter, Deputy Police Commissioner (DPC), Kumba E., attached to the CID, handed over to him a locally made cutlass, scissors with orange handles, a mask, two shotgun cartridges, and a catapult (“rubber fack”) as exhibits.

At this juncture, Lawyer Jengo stated that he would file a “no case submission”, asking for 10 days to prepare the said submission.
