Ministry of Employment, Labour and Social Security (MELSS) with the Human Resources Global Consultancy Sierra Leone Limited (HRG) sent 18 female migrants to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia yesterday, with a decent job promise.

The Minister of Labour , Employment and Social Security Mohamed Rahman Swaray, in bidding his farewell message to the migrants, said that they are on a legal, safe and dignified trip, as well as assuring them of a “decent work” in their endeavours.

While there is usually a hue and cry on the illegal migration path, the Minister said there is always a legal and straight path to travel and people need not choose uncertain and unrealisable routes that could lead to death.

He admonished them to be good representatives of the country, likening them to ambassadors representing the county, their families and the travelling agency. He urged them to be a good example to others in terms of proper conduct and right discipline.

“This is a huge opportunity for you because there are people out there who also need this opportunity. So, you have to treat it very seriously. Many of your friends did not allow themselves to go through this scrutiny, and many went to temple run and ended up dying,” he said.

Highlighting the number of accredited travelling agencies in Sierra Leone, the Head of the Ministry of Labour Migration Unit, Moses Conteh revealed that there are four accredited travelling organisations in the country such as HR Global Consultancy Sierra Leone Limited and SOS Global Investment Sierra Leone.

The General Manager of HR Global Consultancy Sierra Leone Limited, Foday Samura speaking to the media, allayed the fears of the public saying they have fulfilled all the legal migration processes and have been approved by the government of Sierra Leone.

“We are a safe and reliable travelling agency. This is the first batch and is strictly for females comprising 20 female migrants in total. Two have already travelled and the remaining 18 are travelling today,” he said.

One of the migrants, Safie Kamara, said that they are going to make good use of the opportunity and promised to make the government and the agency and their families proud.
