FBC inter-house athletics sport meet ends tomorrow

Fourah Bay College (FBC) is having its annual Inter-Hall track and field Athletics at the college’s Havelock Grounds-Kortright. The event which started on Thursday ends tomorrow Saturday 11th March 2023.

The Head of Department Games and Sports FBC, Francis Alpha told Politico how delighted they are for this year’s event which he said provides a platform for  his department  to identify talents and  preparing for the upcoming Inter-Varsity Athletics  organized by the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education.

SLFA suspends referee N’jai

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has suspended Premier League Referee Saiba N’jai also known as ‘Materazzi’ from all football activities for a period of one month.

The suspension came after his poor performance in a league match between Ports Authority FC and this year’s debutants from Lungi, Lamboi FC on the 27th February, 2023 at the Brima Attouga Mini Stadium in Freetown.

The decision was disclosed in a press release by the FA.

BLACKPOOL CHAIRMAN CRIES FOR HELP

With two crucial away fixtures looming, the Chairman of Mighty Blackpool Football Club has taken the unusual step of going on social media to urge their fans, elders, and patrons to urgently provide financial assistance for the club to be able to meet the rising cost of participating in the on-going Sierra Leone Premier League.

 Rodney Michael said the club needs ‘in excess of sixty million old Leones for only those two matches alone.’

Eight Sierra Leone Premier League Clubs face disciplinary measures

Fines have been imposed on eight clubs in  the Sierra Leone Premier League  after being found guilty of professional misconduct by the Premier League Disciplinary and Protest Committee. Some club officials were also found culpable of similar offences and faced fine or match suspension.

 Bai Bureh Warriors, East End Lions, Old Edwardians, Bo Rangers, Wusum Stars, Central Parade, FC Kallon and FC Johansen are the clubs affected.

Top Sierra Leone coach faces FIFA probe

The world governing body of football, FIFA is reported to have opened an investigation into sexual harassment allegations against former Sierra Leone Women’s coach, Abdulai Bah after an article published by London-based Guardian newspaper.

SLFA inspects Southern Arena Stadium

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has conducted an inspection of the newly constructed 6,000 (six thousand) seater Southern Arena stadium in Bo Southern Sierra Leone, as the association has been mandated by CAF to explore possibilities for the hosting of upcoming International Matches. The country’s Siaka Stevens Stadium is closed to games as it is being extensively rehabilitated.

The inspection took place on Thursday 3rd February, 2023 in a bid to secure CAF certification of the facility. 

EE Lions boycott One Nation tournament

East End Lions Football Club has stopped its players and officials from participating in the upcoming Leone Rock One Nation Tournament scheduled to commence on the 28th January, 2023.

According to a statement from the club, the was move due to the fact that organizers of the One nation tournament named several of its players and officials to represent the Western Region teams without any formal request or communication with them.
